Western Outdoor Writers Third Annual Conference

The 2006 WOW Conference is to be held at the Colorado Springs Sheraton Hotel and the famous Colorado Outdoor Adventure Guide School.

Dates for the conference have been set for September 27-30, 2006.

The theme is "THE BOTTOM LINE". The conference aim is to help you increase your bottom line--profits.

On Wednesday, September 27, all conference attendees, plus members of the area media and manufacturers of outdoor products, are being hosted for a full day of outdoor activities at the famous Colorado Outdoor Adventure Guide School. Transportation to and from the hotel, noon meal, snacks and soft drinks, are provided by COAGS.

Wednesday evening everyone will return to the hotel for a "Welcome to Colorado Springs" buffet hosted by the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Thursday will be seminars and there are plans for dinner and a guest speaker. The entertainment for Thursday night has been set. We will have a Blue Grass Jam group on hand. The group consists of professional musicians from the Colorado Springs Area who also perform as a Blue Grass Group every Wednesday night.

Friday will be seminars in the morning, hands on workshops and informal discussion groups in the afternoon. Friday night will be the Apogee Awards, Silent Auction and door prizes and another guest speaker.

Mini-Mountain Man Rendezvous
The Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders will take those attendees who are interested a primitive experience on a one night Rendezvous in the Pinon Hills near Penrose, Colorado. You'll be shooting muzzle loaders, cooking in cast iron over open fires, learning about knife and tomahawk making and throwing and sleeping in tee-pees. These people also organize and put on the second largest Rendezvous in the country so they are packing a lot of experience.

Gold Medal Fly Fishing
Two days of guided fly fishing on the Arkansas River. Accommodations will be arranged. Fishing license is required.

Colorado Outdoor Adventure Guide School
Manufacturer/Media Day - A full day of activities geared to the outdoor writer.

Band-tailed Pigeon Hunt
A full day of hunting. Hunting license is required.

Liar's Night
An opportunity to spin a yarn for prizes.

Silent Auction
A variety of products donated for the annual WOW Auction.

Prize Drawings
During the Friday night awards banquet there will be drawings for door prizes culminating in the grand prize, a Remington Over/Under Shotgun.

Book Store and Readings
Conference book store and reading program to enable WOW members who attend the conference and speakers who are nonmembers, to sell their books, videos, photographs and art. Readings, signings and the bookstore will be open to the general public and advertised.
